Last night we verified that the safety interlocks do not prevent us from manually lighting the gas burners on the stove, just the oven.

We had a big pot of not-chicken soup on the back of the stove for 2-3 days just in case the power decided to go out again AND because we both have raging colds - again :(
Being able to heat food, even in a power outage, is a very good thing.
