I walked by a pair of upper-middle-aged women holding a banner supporting S. Martinez. Well, not really -- the candidate wasn't there, just her name. No party affiliation. I asked, and was told she was a Republican. I inquired as to why they didn't prominently feature that fact -- they said they just wanted to get name recognition. Remember, it doesn't matter why you vote for her, as long as you do.

Here's my interpretation of her campaign points:

- Will insist on roll call votes. I don't have a problem with that.
- Will try to reduce taxes. 'Cause, you know, Massachusetts has really high taxes. 32nd out of 50 in terms of state and local taxes vs per capita income. http://money.cnn.com/pf/features/lists/taxesbystate2005/index.html
- Will try to chase those pesky foreigners out. Especially denying them drivers' licenses, because it's better to have them drive illegally and uneducated.
- Will work against s-x ed. And possibly -v-l-t--n, 'cause the Bible says...
- Firmly against those horrible gay people. Or whatever it is that Traditional Family Values means today. Spouse rape? Beating the kids with a rod no thicker than your thumb? I forget.
