Why can't I stop reading these?
Jenetta Carver has no character flaws -- she thought herself out of them. She has no physical flaws -- her enemies erased them. Her battle plans have now saved the Galactic Alliance five times. She's the first in her class to make Captain, then the first to make Admiral, then she gets a gratuitous second star. Her defecations do not emit foul odor, and the Hand of the Author is firmly around her waist. Random secondary characters spend the time when she is off-screen praising her. A superior officer who slighted her a decade ago is roundly punished (by the author, of course) with beatings and sexual assault. (A previous superior who didn't like her got off with sensory-deprivation-induced insanity.)
