_Voodoo River_, Robert Crais
There came a point in this book where I thought it certain that a particular woman was going to be killed. Forty or fifty pages later, it almost happened -- and then a surprise.
The plot twists here are mostly earlier rather than later. Males associated with the hiring female are again (5/5) untrustworthy. The PI got paid. The biggest surprise: I don't believe he killed anyone.
