A numerical problem with an answer that is not immediately googleable may be answered in the following fashion:

1. Find an online community of reasonable size and rationality.
2. Post the question and an assertion of a ridiculous answer. "There can't possibly be any economic incentive for space colonization. No colonization has ever been profitable, and even watering the Gobi Desert is beyond us. It would take all the freshwater in the world to make the Gobi productive."
3. Wait for an expert, or at least somebody numerate and willing, to do the work.
4. If you don't like the answer, go to (1) with a new community.
5. When you get a good enough answer, stop. it is now googleable.
