Book n (n=13 novels, 2 anthologies and a companion worldbook, not to mention the spinoff series) of Jane Yellowrock, the shape-shifting vampire-slaying Dark Queen who is currently managing to be financially successful, have a few really close friends, maintain a satisfying long-term romantic relationship, and is usually polite to strangers. There is no point in starting here; in fact, it might be the end of the series. If so, it's reasonably satisfying. I suspect she will at least return for guest appearances in the spinoff series about the dryad.
