Perhaps we ought to reverse the terminology, and refer to 802.11a/b/g/n/X as just plain ethernet and 802.3(gurgle) as Wired Ethernet.
gurgle: it will surprise very few of you, I think, to hear that 802.3ba is going to specify 40Gb/s and 100Gb/s speeds.
