Missing a word

I have not yet been able to locate the word in English that denotes a similar state of needing books.
Does it exist? In other languages?

Oh, yes, it will. That's why I like Doctor Bronner's soaps -- not only do they smell nice and have ingredients I can pronounce, but they come with a supply of emergency reading material.
