I have a hefty laptop that I'm running some tests on. It's big, fast, not all that heavy for a thing with a 17" screen... so it has abysmal battery life. All right.

I let it go to sleep last night on about 16% charge. This morning I woke it up, started typing in my password, and watched it die beneath my fingertips.

Well, all right. I got out the charger, plugged it in, turned it on.

It woke up from hibernation with my password half-typed in.

Yay Debian.

Oh, you probably can, if you are running a top-of-the-line machine where HP or Dell actually spent some time doing the system engineering and then sold a bunch to Microsoft themselves and then exactly the right SP came out with all the bugs for that specific model resolved because the right somebody at MS used it as their work machine.

Sigh. I work for a Microsoft-mostly shop. I like it, but I miss better software. :-)
