Occasionally people ask me to help them pick out a knife. Generally, they want something for daily carry, reliable, strong, and useful. Not too heavy, either.

These are what I'm currently eyeing:

Benchmade Griptilian BM550HG
$60-70 dollars plus shipping.

Decent steel, lightweight, good blade profile.

Spyderco Endura, 4th Generation, with ZDP-189 steel SP10PGRE
$80 plus shipping

A little heavier, a new rock-star steel, and great ergonomics

ah religion. might I suggest what is actually my totally favorite pocket knife (which i no longer carry because its a first production run and now worth serious $$) the AG Russell one-hander. it comes in a variety of flavors, I have the first generation damascus version that's $295 now.

The ATS-34 version (rock star steel :-) is $65. Of course these days I'm ether carrying a Buck Omega ATS-34 folder or a CRKT model.

Oh, and either a Swiss Champ or a similar
