Z is an enthusiastic reader, and he wants to read to other people. Like most beginning readers, though, he is largely sounding out the words for his own edification, and is not intelligible more than a foot or two away. On the one hand, I want to teach him to project. On the other hand, I am afraid of the uses to which he would put the new skill...

Can you devise a method to explain *when* projecting is necessary? (I only speak up "on stage". If I need to speak up, I need to mentally put myself on stage, and then I project. I suspect this might be early training.)
