Today is Sunday November 2nd. Did you change your clocks? It may be an hour earlier than you think.

Tuesday is Election Day in the US. If you live in Pennsylvania, Virginia, or Ohio, your vote probably counts more than anyone else this election. I'm not impartial: go vote to throw the evil corrupt bastards out of office, please.

Too many

I think I counted 26 clocks (or things with clocks in them) around the house. Two are linked to WWV so set themselves as do the ones in the computers and TV stuff, but the rest I have to do by hand.

It's sort of funny, since I don't even wear a watch anymore except on the few occasions when I have a specific appointment to get to, so knowing the time is mostly irrelevant.

Since I got a DVR I don't even have to check the time to watch TV, I just record everything for later viewing. Similarly with my new internet radio, I put on stations which just broadcast continuously and I'm accumulating a set of podcasts for the shows I specifically want to hear, which the box will handle as well.

The BBC has noticed the trend and has started to make almost all their produced shows available as podcasts, NPR is still a bit behind.

When I was in middle school I can remember all the kids coming in and discussing whatever was the popular show the day after it was broadcast. Now with the world becoming asynchronous I wonder if we will lose this type of common cultural connection?
