The first time I ever saw the word "prorogue" used was in http://james-nicoll.livejournal.com/1519179.html
... and I thought he was making an obscure joke comparing Harper to Kim Jong Il by way of mangled Engrish.

Whoops.

(Prorogation is ending a session of the legislature by decree, without dissolving the legislature at the same time.)

It's likely a new one for most Canadian's too.

Given that Harper is currently doing the "but you didn't elect him prime minister!" screeches (ignoring the fact that we don't elect prime ministers in the first place), I doubt he's expecting people to know what he's up to at the best of times.
