If you want your five-year-old to play with Lego, tell him it's time to pick up the Lego and put them back in the bucket.

I wonder what else this works on.

recent experience (fortunately i'm at one remove from this situation) leads me to believe that you could add "if you want your manager to spend two grand on a software license, tell him that he'll need to cut 15% from his budget for next year." :p
