Last week I was feeling poor on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday I worked from home -- and if I hadn't had a conference call with a vendor on Friday, it would have been a sick day.

Saturday I got worse, much worse.
Sunday I was hoping for death as a release, metaphorically.

Today, I'm still not good -- maybe 50% health.

It's not con crud -- I didn't go to Arisia. It's not from the kids -- they don't have it (although E vomited twice today, so he's not great).
Bleh.

I'm hoping to be well enough to get to work tomorrow, but it doesn't seem especially likely. Really, I'm hoping to be well enough to work from home tomorrow.

I wish I had something intelligent to offer other than 'oh, I hear you'

Started Wednesday. Now Monday. Still sick. Still seriously considering metaphorical death as a reasonable alternative.

Hope you heal fast.

I did ask.

Sounds like a nasty stomach flu, possibly colluding with a cold of some sort. Half my office is out with some sort of norovirus; I am glad I am not in that half. Perhaps being at Arisia actually *improved* my health, for once!? and also wishing once again for copper door handles, or something else anti-microbial.

"Copper... anti-microbial"

This was my line of thought as well. Perhaps next year's steampunk costuming will be a bit more involved.

Health, or lack thereof.

Oh yuck :(
I do hope you feel better soon.
Lots of fluids and vitamin C, and chicken soup :)

Sympathies; I've been home sick since Wednesday. A really bad cold -- I think two colds, actually.

But I am finally feeling like I can go to work tomorrow.

Fight back

I don't know if the Boston area is just a hotbed of disease, but everyone seems to be infected several times a season.

I suggest a couple of simple things that might help (of course you will never know since avoiding getting sick isn't something you can measure).

The most important is thorough hand washing. I suggest the first thing when you get into work in the morning, a time most people don't do it. There is little one can do about air borne bugs when crammed into mass transit, but when you shed your outer garments at lot of it will be away from you. Not so with all those on your hands from touching things in the transit system. Hence the hand washing.

Second, washing hands before eating (even snacks), even if you haven't done "anything" except sit in your office. Perhaps the waterless wipes might be adequate although I have my reservations about them. There is nothing like soap and water. The soap kills the bacteria, the surfactant unsticks it from your skin and the water washes it away. Antibacterial products only do step 1.

Third might be dietary adjustments. I don't what these are since I'm not an expert. In addition about 99% of all advice out there comes from hucksters trying to sell herbal remedies and other fads. However there must be some reliable advice about the choice of fruits and vegetables and the like.

Staying away from prepared foods in supemarkets and delis seems also a way to minimize risk. I gave up those help yourself salad bars after I got sick a few times. Not only are various people breathing on them before you, but the stocks that are put out come from commercial preparers where they are made in large batches and stored and transported in unknown conditions.
