_Preacher: Gone To Texas_ (volume 1), Garth Ennis

It's extremely violent. There is a story. It digresses. The characters are quirky, but not actually interesting -- the best of them is an Irish vampire who ought to ditch these losers and get his own series.

I'll look at volume two.

Whoa, that's... pretty far from my reaction. Except that it's extremely violent, that trend absolutely keeps up. I recommend sticking it out a bit longer, unless the sheer offensiveness is an obstacle.

Actually, I don't know if I agree. Garth Ennis is very much a matter of taste, and engenders strong reactions. It doesn't surprise me that some folks don't get into his extremely distinctive (and pretty consistent) style...

Well, alright, I can see that... I think the overall story's very interesting, but my enjoyment of it was certainly colored by a fondness for his strange style.
