dsrtaoThe RSS feed from Warren Ellis just carried several items about Dardick trounds, a weird ammunition system that nobody adopted.
My brain made a few connections, and out popped _Body Armor 2000_, an anthology from 1986, in which on page 163 we have this story:

Anyway, that story involves bacteriological warfare and Dardick trounds... the only place I've ever seen them mentioned before.
