_Green Lantern: The Sinestro Corps War, Volume 1_, Geoff Johns, Dave Gibbons, others
_Superman: Birthright_, Mark Waid, Leinil Francis Yu

GL clearly wanted to be broad and sweeping and epic and crowning-moment-of-awesome... and was crowded and blurred and failed to tell a story. If you didn't already care about these characters, there's nothing there to inspire it.

Yet another Superman origin story; this one more influenced by the movie, and occasionally trying to nod to it and distance itself at the same time. Not so good. Young Clark comes off as whiny and self-righteous; reporter Clark isn't much of anything, and Supes himself is kinda clueless. Also, the power levels for Lex's machinations are ramped up way way way too high too fast.

Dan, have you read _Atomic Robo_ yet? If not, I'd recommend volume 1 to you. AR is sort of a Sci-Fi version of Hellboy. Set in the present day, but with a lot of flashbacks, it stars a sarcastic robot adventurer (built by Tesla naturally) and his team of action-scientists fighting Weird Science! monsters. Silly adventures and silly comedy (the long-standing feud between Robo and Stephen Hawking is my personal favorite).

Volume 2 is also fun, but as it deals with only one time period (Robo's adventures during WW2) it's not quite as big in scope.
