"Collectible" is different - it's possible to collect all sorts of things, even if not desirable. Dust, for example. Many of the "collectibles" collect dust.

And the shorter the time it's available, the less you need it.

Oh, yes. Limited time only -- my father used to work in the ceramics industry. Those 'collectible' painted plates that were limited to, say, forty firing days? He wasn't in that chunk of the industry, but he knew that a firing day could produce anywhere from one to one million pieces.
