dsrtao: dsr as a LEGO minifig (Default)
We did not go to Pennsic this year: instead, we swapped houses with Elizabear's parents, up in Far North Vermont, where Quebec is as close as Pennsylvania is to Binghamton. Due to past experience, I am still on vacation from work until tomorrow -- it's good to have a rest day in between travel and work.

Selected highlights:
- second best prime rib I've had, at The Old Foundry in St. Albans, VT. Wonderful flavor. It would have been nice if the baked potato was significantly larger than my thumb, but...
- We took Z to the Granby Zoo. The first animals he saw were elephants, and he was hooked immediately. The zoo also contains a waterpark -- wave pool, spray park, and lazy river raft ride -- which provided highly desired relief from the sun. The last animals Z saw were also elephants, and as we left, Elizabear handed him a hard rubber elephant toy. He couldn't stop saying "elephant, elephant, elephant!" for the next two days.
- Lake Champlain was warm when the wind picked up and cool when the sun beat down. A hundred feet from shore was still only 4-5 feet deep. I towed Z around in a paddleboat. He liked that.
- Getting a shampoo outdoors, sun-warmed water supplied courtesy of Lake Champlain. Wow.

Feeling refreshed and ready to tackle work tomorrow.
