Finished: _Burden of Proof_, _A Just Determination_, _Rule of Evidence_ by John G. Hemry. Hemry's found a formula, and it seems to work well. First, we are reminded about what's happening in the life of Lt.(j.g.) Paul Sinclair. Some people join his ship and some people leave. He works hard and conscientiously in his primary duty (CIC) and his secondary duties (stands watch as Officer of the Deck, and acts as Legal Officer). Somebody gets into trouble and we see Captain's Mast. Something exciting happens, and as a result one or more people die. A random ensign or junior officer asks for the definition of some legal term which any Law and Order fan already knows, and Sinclair supplies a definition. An investigation occurs, and charges are made. There is a court martial, and everything gets handled correctly.

Three books in a row. No particular signs that he'll stop. At least Hemry is a competent author: every line of dialogue sounded real and in character. No idiots need apply to the plotting department.
