Work, Vacation -- what's the difference?
Jun. 22nd, 2006 05:27 amWe stayed at a lovely b&b in Toronto, not quite in the middle of the parade route for Pride Week. Rainbows everywhere. They advertised wireless net access, but when we arrived, they said it was borken -- but there are two terminals in the living room, feel free to use them.
So I volunteered my profession and willingness, and the next morning I talked to the resident protogeek, ran some tests and tweaked some settings, decided that the router's radio was borked, and configured up the replacement router they had already purchased, all the while talking about threat analysis and appropriate responses. 45 minutes later, there was a -46/-84 dBM S/N in our third floor room. Nice and clear.
