MA Politics
Apr. 19th, 2012 02:29 pmI just had my strangest political interaction ever... and I've talked with IWW, Trotskyites, LaRouchies, and frothing weirdoes.
Sitting on a park bench, enjoying the sun. An elderly woman walks up with a clipboard and a big nametag -- Mary Charbonneau, it says. She asks if I'm a registered voter, and I agree that I am. She tells me she is gathering petition signatures to get a nomination for the Senate, she's running as an independent. I ask what her platform is. "Oh, I'm not really running on a platform. I want to be flexible." She asks where I'm registered, then asks if I want to sign her petition.
"I'd like to hear your positions, first."
"Thanks, bye." And she walks away.
She's on LinkedIn. http://www.linkedin.com/pub/mary-j-charbonneau/21/83b/825
She appears disconnected from doing anything productive, which is all too normal in a politician, but also disconnected from having any points to make or charisma, which is not.
