123. A Dangerous Man, Robert Crais.

Short sentences, like Hemingway. Sometimes no verb. Straight to the point. Tight third-person, but switching each couple of chapters to a different character, as the story demands. Kidnapping story. Joe Pike, assassin-with-a-heart-of-gold, intervenes. This is his 7th book. Brings in his partner, usually snarky PI Elvis Cole. Cole's 16th book. Not much snark this time. Loose ends are tied up. Justice is done, and mostly seen to be done, too. Slimy forensics person is even slimier in this book. It's clear that Crais knows this.
