The fifth book set in a slightly future Earth where magic was reintroduced to the world sometime near the end of the Cold War. The viewpoint shifts from the previous books' Nevada Baylor to her sister Catalina. We get to see some of the hidden history of the world, plenty of mixed magical-modern combat, and a find the baddies/stop the baddies plot at least up to Harry Dresden standards.
The romance-style cover is a clever marketing move characteristic of this series, since SFnal Romance sells better than romance-inspired SF for some reason.
