People keep telling me Usenet is dead, but I find it endlessly fascinating as a source of both entertainment and book reviews.

In the entertainment column, I would like to nominate Shawn Wilson, posting as "ikonoqlast@cox.net", as an Official Usenet Kook. He has recently accused David Friedman of not knowing anything about economics, Henry Spencer of not knowing anything about space travel, and Seth Breidbart of not knowing anything. He's as oblivious as Kibo is omnipresent.

Hmm. Reminds me of an undergrad from UToronto a few years back who, posting on rasfw, managed to tell Henry Spencer he didn't know anything about NASA and then told Bruce Schneier he was obviously a cryptographic ignoramus. In less than two weeks. I don't think he got Seth, too, but he was close.

I wonder if that is the same Seth Breidbart that lived a few blocks from me as a boy. It's not a common name....
