_Metatropolis_, edited by John Scalzi, written by Scalzi, Karl Schroeder, Elizabeth Bear, Jay Lake, Tobias Buckell.

Five authors in a shared world. Five authors, all of whom have written things that I liked a lot. What could go wrong?

Pretty much nothing, in this case, except that I want to see more. I wouldn't say no to a novel apiece, for example.

I should say something about what the stories are about. Cities of the future: blighted, rebuilt, distributed, recycled, linked, green, efficient, modified, technical, and mostly humane.

_Metatropolis_ was originally released as an audiobook. I got a free copy as part of my Hugo voter's packet last year, but it came with DRM that I didn't feel interested in cracking. Thus, I'm reading the library's copy. Eh, audiobooks are too slow, anyway. If I want to hear someone reading a story aloud, I'll do it myself -- the kids are currently getting a chapter or so of Pratchett's _The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents_, nightly.
