Super Bowl: Last hurrah for rampant sexism?

WTF are so many of the Super Bowl ads so blatantly sexist or misogynist?

And is Bud Light trying to position itself as the beer for stupid people?

This just in: best ad of the Super Bowl: Google.

What's odd is that a tremendous number of women watch the Super Bowl, and advertisers have not taken advantage of this.

As you note, there are sexist ads, and there are also few targeted to women, despite the audience.

The ad people for Budweiser are not as funny as they think they are.

In answer to the first two questions, I don't think either of you are representative of the main audience for the super bowl, or for football in general.

I read that blog post; it seemed that the ad they chose for an example of misogyny was 180 degrees off. As far as I can see, that clip shows the man as rude, obnoxious, and boorish - not to mention stupid. It was an anti-male commercial. Many of the female-targeted ones are, and I find them offensive.

Why? Here's my test: if you flip the sexes, and people would protest, then it's a problem. If demeaning, objectifying, denigrating or otherwise belittling women is offensive, the actions are offensive when applied to men, too. "Reverse" discrimination is still discrimination.

No, I didn't watch the game, nor have I seen all the ads yet - just the ones in that blog post.
