Dud you actually *taste* it, or was it more of a "so that's what it feels like" experience?

I put half of a whole pepper (deseeded) in my mouth, masticated appropriately, and swallowed.

There's quite a lot of taste to it, before the burning overwhelms.

Ah, the de-seeding is important. I once had a friend who thought he was being macho by eating one whole. They were in the process of calling an ambulance when the pain became bearable again.

What did he think the ambulance was going to do for him? Milk or alcohol to flush; not much else is going to work, I think.
