Why do they do this?

The forecast says: This afternoon, mostly cloudy with a high near 81.

Three inches away, on the same page: Current conditions: Partly Cloudy, 82.

Why doesn't the current observation update the forecast?

But I don't care about their historical accuracy in this context; I just want the most accurate forecast possible. They revise their forecast several times per day; why not revise it when current conditions trigger something obvious?

(I want to know historical accuracy in other contexts, such as deciding between forecasters. That's a separate dataset.)
