In _I Am Not A Serial Killer_, we saw John, a 15 year old sociopath, battle his inner demons and then (minor spoiler) battle an actual demon.
In this volume, we see conclusive proof that John was not being an unreliable narrator; this is definitely a fantasy/horror series, and there are more serial-killer-demons out there.

This is kind of making me like the first book less, I think--I liked that one didn't know whether it was a real demon or not.
But obviously that isn't sustainable for a series.
