Ecologically Unfit

I don't believe in Bridge Trolls. If your fantasy enumerates species of trolls, that's reasonable. Forest Trolls, Mountain Trolls, Urban Trolls, Internet Trolls -- sure, those are all nice complex ecologies. But even if you assume that trolls are slow-breeding apex predators, there just aren't enough bridges to provide a consistent environment suitable for such specialization. Perhaps bridges are a preferred habitat, but certainly not sole.

Do modern Bridge Trolls disguise themselves as construction crews? That could explain a lot.

I think they're kobolds driven out of mines by mining, accustomed to eating miners, and now hiding themselves in the nearby industrial ecology.
