The developers at $WORK use either Macs or Linux as they desire, so I have been issued a MacBook Pro to use as my traveling laptop.

Good points:

- hardware build quality is excellent
- I like the illumination of the keyboard
- acceptably speedy
- Mac OS is still easy to pick up in 45 seconds or less

Bad points:

- where are all my logs?
- for that matter, where are all the files? Does Mac have an FHS document to peruse?
- no option for focus-follows-pointer
- an awful lot of excess chrome; it's almost as bad as GNOME2

You mean /var/log??
(Also, look via Console.app)

(And you can set terminal ffp… but I think only terminal. Yeah, annoying.)

There's an addon for focus-follows-mouse, but it's a little odd across applications. Sloop used to do it but is probably many years out of date now. Use gestures--and get Lion. Surprisingly handy: the new multiple full screens that you can page between with a four-fingered sweep.
