It is the government's responsibility to protect the rights and freedoms of the individual, as enumerated in the Constitution, against the disproportionate power and influence of giant special interests. The government is accountable to the people, and the people are individually and collectively responsible for managing the government through votes, lobbying, and similar active efforts.

Wouldn't it be fair to say, then given that definition, that the people have failed? They elected this nitwit not once but twice. Even accounting for election fraud that's still a sizable portion of the populace who gave in to fear and jettesoned reason.
