If you want to creep yourself out, check out the new comic Testament. It's a very peculiar blend of religion, mythology and SF, with the main "modern-day" (about ten years ahead, I'd say) story very consciously echoing biblical texts.
The SF is interesting, and some of it is very relevant -- among other things, the story starts on the day when it becomes mandatory for anyone of draft age to have tracking chips installed. For all its fantasy subtext, the book is rather frightfully realistic (if bleak) in its politics...
