The third and likely final volume of a thematic multigenerational trilogy playing with Heinlein tropes. Each book (_Red Thunder_, _Red Lightning_) stands alone as a story, while sharing some characters and progressing another few (or few dozen) years. He's an engaging storyteller, Mr. Varley is. But you probably knew that. Now we get to see some themes from _Podkayne of Mars_, _Between Planets_, _Time for the Stars_, _Methuselah's Children_, _Farmer in the Sky_, and others.If I were feeling ambitious, I should play compare-and-contrast with David Gerrold's Dingiliad trilogy, which also plays with Heinlein tropes...
