Violent crime continues to decline

The Uniform Crime Report is the FBI's annual gathering of major crime statistics. The figures are now available for the first half of 2011, and once again, everything is down.

This is unsurprising to anyone who has paid attention for the last decade.

But I thought society was on an inevitable decline, leading inexorably to an orgy of violence and slaughter. What's WRONG with people?

I was inspired to check by a posting on a gun blog about a new holster system designed to be mounted to a car's steering column. Quoth the blogger

"These days with car jacking fairly common a product like this is a good place to carry a backup gun when driving or traveling"

which struck me as repetition of propaganda.

But, but, I thought the lack of universal Christian values was leading to the apocalypse?

And I was wondering, what does a heathen wear to the Apocalypse?

Then I realized, a Grateful Dead t-shirt seems good.
