One fiber-splice later and we are back in business.

I keep reminding myself not to make major changes based on unlikely events. This is the longest net outage we've had in 17 years by a factor of 6.

Thanks. If we dropped any email for you, it was in about a 26 hour period near the beginning before I realized that I didn't have my secondary MX configured properly. Sorry about that.

I'm not worried about it. It's an infrequently-used address and might even be safe to retire now; I used it publicly on a site that I later left, but left the email address behind as a way for people to contact me if they wanted. That happened, but as time goes on it's less and less likely that anybody still there cares, and they'd have to dig it out of the Wayback Machine at this point anyway. Every now and then I get a ping, but I probably didn't get one during those 26 hours. :-)
