Books Read

Either the third book in a series or the end of a trilogy about Sam Dresden, a former specops soldier who keeps getting dragged into adventures he really doesn't want. Suppose Dean Koontz wrote cogently and well, and didn't use a supernatural explanation for the horror scenarios -- that's what this is like.
Surprisingly readable as an introductory book to the series, too. That can happen when you feature human protagonists who don't level up, though it runs the risk of becoming reset-episodic.
(I recommend Lee's first trilogy, which is excellent SF.)
