Even if your post is private or friends-locked and all your friends are absolutely trustworthy...

SixApart/LiveJournal will happily turn over everything you ever wrote to a lawyer with a subpoena.

It won't happen to you, of course. You have nothing to hide, and you never write anything that you wouldn't send immediately to your ex, your parents, your kids, your boss, your investors, your competitors, your parole officer (you don't have one? just wait...) and your neighbors. You know, the ones with the Repent Now! sign on their lawn.

Has there been a particular incident which has prompted the reminder?

Also, Times Square is more private, due to the noise and the fact that no-one's listening.

That's what I thought. Is this a public story, with a link you could share?

Suffice it to say it was a very ugly divorce with child custody involved (no, not Schuldy).

Yeah, I was just thinking that about Times Square. Nobody is going to care.

Well, I guess that answers the question of why I post so little personal stuff on LJ (grin).

Why would this surprise anyone?

It's standard operating procedure as far as I know.

Thank you

Thank you for the reminder. Although, I recently re-locked my journal, it remains fairly innocuous.
