Yup. To well-known North East US sites, it appears to be the advertised bandwidth: 20Mb/s down, 2Mb/s up. Across to California, I've got some sites around 15Mb/s down, 1.5Mb/s up. So I'd say it was as advertised. They threw in a router that plugs directly into the cable, too.
This is cable not DSL right? How much do you pay? My only options are DSL (which I have now and it's only about 700K+) through a local firm, AceDSL, Verizon DSL (I'm not sure they even offer this anymore), Verizon FIOS (with no ability to run a server) and the local cable company, which has a lousy reputation all around.
RCN cable, which is available in some parts of NYC. $130/month for 20/2 internet, static IP, permission to run a server, a very large number of TV channels of which we will watch about 20 in the course of a year, and unlimited local and US/Canada long distance phone.
As a curious fellow recent RCN adopter, what are your advanced cable troubles?
Mice's been working smoothly for a while now, but after adding the new 5.1 surround sound set to the mix, I've been trying out various wiring schemes to find the one that works best for different applications (and causes the least about of messing with the TV's HD settings).
The CableCard in the HD Tivo is not working. Neither is the second one the installer had.
I'm trying to configure MythTV to look at the (three dozen or so) unencrypted QAM channels via my HDHomeRun. VLC brings them all in, Myth isn't scanning any.
Gotcha. I'm just using the RCN provided DVR-box so I'm not hitting those issues. I've thought about switching to a HD-Tivo though. Do they give you much of a price break on just getting the card instead of a full box?

Lucky I don't try to watch movies...
