As far as I can tell, nobody in real life believes in either of the religions depicted on BSG, so that problem doesn't arise.

Ah, I see - I know that some people had commented negatively on perceived bleed-through of Mormonism into the series.

No, actually -- that's largely irrelevant. It's more about the sheer *fluffiness* of the religion in the series that is annoying. (Especially because it's the only severe weakness in a show I otherwise very much enjoyed...)
