_Preacher: Gone To Texas_ (volume 1), Garth Ennis

It's extremely violent. There is a story. It digresses. The characters are quirky, but not actually interesting -- the best of them is an Irish vampire who ought to ditch these losers and get his own series.

I'll look at volume two.

_Marvel Secret Wars_, Jim Shooter

12 issues of Avengers/FF/X-Men crossover in which only the narrator ever ends a sentence in a period. The only legitimate superheroic punctuation appears to be an ellipsis, a question mark, or (most popular) an exclamation mark.

Now my ears hurt.
