Odd things I do for fun
Apr. 13th, 2011 09:44 pmRead about Diaspora. Look at the setup instructions. Note that the configuration instructions for Apache are kinda minimal. Note that the configuration for Nginx consists of "Nginx configuration goes here". Wonder how complex Nginx config is. Remember thought of moving all local website stuff to SSL. Consider setting up Nginx to do SSL service. Install Nginx. Configure. Configure for SSL. Generate temporary self-signed certs, installing SSL-cert-generation package along the way. Test Nginx. Read log files. Note that version 1 came out recently; this is an older version. Get source of new version. Get dependencies. Configure. Unhappy with reported configuration. Read config help. Configure. Compile. Install. Tweak startup scripts. Test. Kill old Nginx. Test. Test Nginx ability to serve stuff to local network. Reconfigure firewall. Test Nginx ability to deny service to unrecognized IPs.
