I just had a bowl of fresh broccoli, steamed and then drenched in butter. It was better than the last popcorn I ate.

Mmmmm butter.
If you tolerate bitter flavors, roasted broccoli is very nice. Roast some garlic at the same time, then combine....

It's actually the sweetness of roasted broccoli that I don't like. I think. Same reason that I prefer it steamed or sauted to raw.

That's just the part I do like (along with the slightly bitter/burnt flavor of the edges of the florets). De gustibus, indeed.
Do you prefer skinny or fat asparagus? I should think skinny, to be consistent...
(And now, suddenly, I crave my wife's recipe for pickled asparagus...)

I don't know. I don't think I've ever eaten asparagus.
