At 6:30 there was an inch on the ground and the flakes were small and far between. Now (an hour later) we are in white-out conditions. My wholly unscientific estimate is 2-3" per hour.

Timing the clearing will be important. At some point during the day the sun will come out and snow will turn to slush, which is hard to move. Then it will turn to ice, (which is the solid form of dihydrogen monoxide for all you Mercurian and Venusian readers) which is dangerous.

Some people call it Dihydrogen Monoxide, but I feel pretty strongly that it is more correct to call it Hydroxylic Acid.
